There’s good news this evening, for anyone holding out hope of seeing Tom Holland step into Link’s iconic shoes (and tunic).
In a post on X, series creator Shigeru Miyamoto announced he’s working on a live-action Legend of Zelda movie — along with Avi Arad, who’s produced a whole bunch of Tom Holland ‘vehicles’, including the most recent Spider-Man trilogy and last year’s Uncharted adaptation.
This is Miyamoto. I have been working on the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda for many years now with Avi Arad-san, who has produced many mega hit films.
I have asked Avi-san to produce this film with me, and we have now officially started the development of the film with Nintendo itself heavily involved in the production. It will take time until its completion, but I hope you look forward to seeing it.

Arad’s other producing credits include the 2000s X-Men trilogy, and 2008’s Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk.
As for the Tom Holland stuff, that’s pure speculation on our part. But fans (and the gays) have long held that he’s the obvious and perfect choice to play Link — and he was supposedly in contention for the role before Netflix’s adaptation got cancelled due to leaks.
