Google Zero is now. It’s here, it’s happening, and it can feel insurmountable. Building an audience on the web is harder than ever, and that leaves us with one really big question: what’s next?

Google Search defines the shape of the internet. AI Mode is a radical departure. AI Overviews already send much less traffic to the rest of the internet, and AI Mode could supercharge that trend.

BBC Future

This is not a drill. Google controls 90% of the search market, and is systematically crushing the best, most creative websites on the internet. If we want to avoid a future where a small handful of tech companies and their AI “agents” control everything we see, we need to start fighting back.

Webrings are a great first step, as they take search engines like Google out of the equation. Likeminded creators get together and share traffic — and a single, solitary visit can turn into traffic for every website in the ring!

The Gaymers+ Webring is an inclusive place for LGBTQ+ gamers and creators, and we’ve made it as simple as we possibly could:

Our widget is lightweight. It adapts to a variety of different screen sizes. And there are no analytics, trackers, ads, or cookies involved — so you know your visitors’ privacy is being protected.

How to get started

The Gaymers+ Webring does have a few simple rules. To be eligible, your website must:

• Be about gaming.
  Any type of gaming is fine. Your site can be about gaming in general — or a specific game, franchise, character, or ship. There’s no such thing as “too niche”.
• Be run by LGBTQ+ creators, or have an LGBTQ+ focus.
• Be independent.
• Be a website in its own right.
  Neocities sites and Tumblr blogs are welcome. Random social media profiles, subreddits, and Facebook pages are not.
• Be publicly accessible.
  Your website can’t be password protected or paywalled.
• Display the Gaymers+ widget prominently at all times.
  Either in your site’s footer, or on the homepage. Don’t try to hide it or camouflage it.
• Be “Safe for Work”.
  Strong language and adult themes are OK. Gratuitous nudity, erotica, and straight-up porn are not.
• Be lawful and reputable.
